非常に読みやすかった。 しかしながら、新版であるため不必要な箇所まで文が改められていた。 エッセンスである文は変えないで欲しかった。

Definitely wanna read the original someday. Found some very profound lines. Especially the last line and another one in the middle of the book (unfortunately I can’t find where it is...). I’m sure I’ll find more thought-provoking lines in the original. Yea, I guess we all sometimes cling to the beautiful past and shelter ourselves in it without even noticing (kinda pathetic, isn’t it? I’ve totally been there tho...). The closer we get to what we pursue, the further away you are from it. The dichotomy between reality and ideas seems to be a timeless problem we have.

原書が難しくて1ページで挫折したので、簡易版の本書を代わりに読んだ。正直言って、「20世紀最高の小説」とは言い難いと思った。恐らく、村上春樹の作品と同様で、物語を味わうというよりは、文体を味わう作品なのだろう。だから、簡易版ではグレートギャツビーの良さが理解できなかったのではない...
原書が難しくて1ページで挫折したので、簡易版の本書を代わりに読んだ。正直言って、「20世紀最高の小説」とは言い難いと思った。恐らく、村上春樹の作品と同様で、物語を味わうというよりは、文体を味わう作品なのだろう。だから、簡易版ではグレートギャツビーの良さが理解できなかったのではないか。いつか英語力が向上した暁には、原書にチャンレンジしたい。
